2015  North Lincoln Baseball: Rookie League Rules
6-7 Year Old Division

  1. Games will be a maximum of (90) ninety minutes or five (5) innings of play, whichever comes first. No new inning can begin with less than fifteen (15) minutes of play remaining.
  2. All games will start on time regardless of number of players present.
  3. No score will be kept.
  4. All players will be included in a continuous batting-order.
  5. During the 1st inning teams will bat through their entire batting-order once regardless of the number of outs made in the field.
  6. During ALL innings batters will get three (3) pitches from the machine. If the batter fails to hit a fair ball during those three pitches, the tee will then be utilized. ***A player may choose not to hit from the machine. In that case, the tee will be offered immediately.*** Please bat all your players in consecutive order should you know that they will not want to hit from the pitching machine! (Realizing, of course, that some may change their mind.)
  7. During the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th innings teams will bat through their entire batting-order OR until three (3) defensive outs are made in the field, whichever comes first. Under this format there will be no strikeouts. However, caught fly balls, tag plays or force-outs at any base shall be recorded and the corresponding base runner retired.
  8. All team members shall play in the field on defense. Players should cover appropriate infield positions (including catcher) and the balance shall play outfield positions.
  9. The Visiting team will take first base dugout and the Home team will take third base dugout. The second team listed on the schedule will be the Home team.
  10. Defensive coaches may stand on the infield behind the infielders. Please provide at least 3 defensive coaches on the field.  Only adults are permitted to coach on the field.
  11. Offensive coaches may stand behind the batter in foul territory, at first base, and at third base. The offensive team or defensive team may supply a coach to feed the pitching machine. (The coach with the greatest organizational skills should remain in the dugout when their team is batting!)
  12. No stealing or leading off. Base runners may leave the base upon the batter's contact with the ball.
  13. Base runners can advance on an overthrow. All base runners are subject to being "put out" on any attempted overthrow advance. Overthrow advancement is limited to one base.
  14. Runners may advance only one base on an overthrow to any defensive player in the infield. You may not advance on a second overthrow.
  15. Base path distance is 60 feet; pitching distance will be 31 feet. The voltage resistance dial on the pitching machine shall be set at approximately "48" or at a setting mutually agreed upon by both Managers. (Note: All of our pitching machines are calibrated differently. Wheel and pad wear are contributing factors to the actual speed of the pitch. A "flatter" pitch is easier to hit for most players, though it will be coming in a little faster.) – Reference grid below
  16. The Rookie League will use a regulation baseball.
  17. No forfeits, play with as many players as you have.
  18. If a player arrives late they will be added to the end of the batting order.
  19. Throwing the bat: The first offense is a verbal warning to the player as well as the rest of that team; the second offense from any player on that team will be an out. Please enforce this rule!!
  20. Helmets must be worn by all batters, base runners, and on deck batters. Helmets must be worn until player enters the dugout. The pitcher on defense should also wear a helmet.
  21. On deck batters must remain inside dugout area.
  22. Players must stay inside the dugout when not out on the field.
  23. Teams are encouraged to use a catcher each inning
  24. Only players and coaches are allowed in dugout areas.
  25. Catchers and all other players are required to wear a protective cup.  Any display of temper or inappropriate conduct by players or coaches will not be tolerated. Any swearing or other misconduct will be cause for immediate ejection from the game. Players from one team will not be allowed to harass members of the opposing team.
  26. Uniforms: North Lincoln provided uniforms must be worn. Shoes must not have metal cleats. No loose fitting shoes, sandals, or loafers. Shirts must be tucked in.
  27. NO SMOKING in the dugout or on the playing field.
